Chrysler Cirrus Parking Brake Cable Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to Replace the Parking Brake Cables?
A: To remove the rear cables, the center console must be removed and the parking brake lever should be in the fully released position. The output cable retaining clip should be pried off and the output cable detached from the rear cable tension equalizer. To install the new cable, the front end should be inserted through the hole in the floor pan and the rear end should be inserted through the hole in the brake assembly backing plate. The cable should be installed into its appropriate position in the center console bracket and the cable retainers should hold it firmly in place. The engine should be started and the brake pedal should be fully depressed two or three times to adjust the rear brakes. Finally, the parking brake cable should be adjusted.
