- A:Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Remove the drivebelt. For 3.6L V6, 3.7L V6, and 4.7L V8 engines, disconnect the battery cable from the B+ output terminal and disconnect the field wire electrical connector from the field terminal. Remove the mounting bolts and remove the alternator. If replacing the alternator, ensure the new unit matches the old one in terms of terminals, size, and identification numbers. Switch the pulley if necessary. For HEMI engines, disconnect the field wire electrical connector from the field terminal and remove the nut securing the battery cable to the B+ terminal. Unsnap the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal and remove the battery cable. Remove the alternator support bracket and then the alternator. For diesel engines, remove the upper and lower alternator mounting bolts and nuts. Unsnap the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal, remove the nut securing the battery cable, and disconnect the cable from the B+ terminal. Disconnect the field wire electrical connector from the field terminal. Installation is the reverse of removal.Posted by MoparPartsGiant Specialist
