- Q:I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.2L Laredo. I ordered and received part number 4864985 (CYLINDER, Headrest, Stowage Cylinder). This appears to be the twist-to-release cylinder, with white arrows on top, which I was not expecting. The part I was hoping to replace is a "dummy" cylinder, which doesn't move and is plain black, and resides under the rear seat cushion to store the headrest when seats are folded. The only other related part I can find in the parts list (Rear Seat Figure IZJ-610), is 4723834 (CYLINDER, Headrest, With Latch). We assumed the one I wanted was the stowage cylinder. Now after seeing the 4864985 part, can you verify whether the 4723834 (CYLINDER, Headrest, With Latch) is actually the plain black unmovable solid piece I was looking for? - A:pt# 4864985 is listed as the headrest stowage cylinder that is found in the rear seat cushion. pt# 4723834 is listed as the headrest cylinder with latch. This would go in the top of the rear seatback and the headrest(pins) would slide into these and lock into place. You would have to push on the release button in order to remove the headrest. Based on pictures I have found on the internet, pt# 4864985 is the correct part that slides into the back of the seat bottoms and they do have the white arrows.
