- A:Before installing the hub and bearing assembly, clean the spindle and apply a coat of wheel bearing grease to the area on the spindle where the bearing rides. Installation is the reverse of removal. Install a new hub nut and tighten it to the torque. On models with rear disc brakes, tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the torque.
