After completing the blower motor replacement or servicing, the vehicle should be taken back to the shop that discharged the air conditioning system to have it evacuated, charged, and leak tested if the vehicle is equipped with air conditioning.

To remove the heater blower motor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the heater core housing and disconnect the blower motor wires. Unscrew the blower motor screws and remove it from the housing. Detach the fan retainer clip from the fan hub and slip the fan off the old motor shaft. Remove the motor-to-cover attaching nuts and pull the motor off the cover. Mount the new motor on the cover, slip the fan onto the shaft, and install the retainer clip. To install the blower motor, place it in position and install the mounting screws. If the heater core housing was removed, reinstall it. Reconnect the wires and battery cable, and test the motor in operation. For the removal of the air conditioning blower motor, start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. Remove the mounting screws and lower the air conditioning evaporator core housing to access the blower motor attaching screws. Disconnect the blower motor wires and remove the mounting screws. Lift the blower motor from the vehicle. To install the blower motor, place it in position and install the mounting screws. Raise the air conditioning evaporator core housing and install the mounting screws. For 1997 through 2001 models, remove the battery and the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor. Remove the three blower motor mounting screws and detach the blower motor from the heater/evaporator core housing. Installation is the reverse of removal. For 2002 and later models, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor. On 2002 through 2006 models, disengage the retaining tab and rotate the blower motor counterclockwise to remove it. On 2007 and later models, remove the three mounting screws and lower the blower motor from the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal.
