- A:The knock sensor is located on the side of the engine block, in front of the starter, under the intake manifold. To replace the knock sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the knock sensor(s). Next, remove the mounting bolt and detach the sensor from the engine block.
