- A:The procedure for removing the fuel tank is as follows: Slowly remove the fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure. Relieve the system fuel pressure. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the left rear wheel lug nuts. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Remove the left rear wheel. Locate the fuel tank filler neck vent tube inside the left rear wheel well, disconnect the two-tab type quick-connect fitting. Disconnect the fuel tank filler hose from the metal tube at the upper end of the hose, not from the fuel tank. Disconnect the fuel line quick-connect fitting and the EVAP line quick-connect fitting, both of which are located at the front of the fuel tank. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel pump/fuel level sending unit. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or with a floor jack. Remove the fuel tank strap bolts. Carefully lower the fuel tank from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to tighten the fuel tank strap bolts securely. When you're done, start the engine and check for leaks at any fuel line connectors that you disconnected.Posted by MoparPartsGiant Specialist
