- Q:Where is the EVAP Canister Purge Valve and Canister Located? Posted by Customer
- A:The EVAP canister purge solenoid is located on the left side of the firewall, below the power brake booster. To remove it, first remove the Powertrain Control Module. Then, label and disconnect the EVAP hoses from the solenoid. Next, slide out the red lock and disconnect the electrical connector. Depress the retaining tab and detach the purge solenoid from the mounting bracket. To install, simply reverse the removal process. The EVAP canister, on the other hand, is located behind the left rear wheel opening. To remove it, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector and hoses from the canister. Remove the mounting fasteners from the bracket and take out the canister assembly. The canister is purged using engine vacuum through the purge solenoid, controlled by the SMEC or SBEC.
