- A:To replace the brake pads, start by raising the vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheels and then the caliper retaining clips and anti-rattle springs by removing the two retaining bolts. Carefully slide the caliper off the disc and use a caliper hanging device to keep the weight off the brake line. Remove the brake pads, checking the caliper for leaks and cleaning all caliper sliding surfaces. Press the caliper piston into the caliper until it is bottomed in the bore, lubricate all caliper sliding surfaces, and place the outboard pad in the caliper. If the flanges do not fit snugly, bend them for a tight fit. Position the inboard pad in the caliper bracket and slowly slide the caliper into position. Attach the anti-rattle springs on top of the retainer clips and tighten the caliper retaining bolts. Pump the brake pedal until firm pressure is felt and refill the master cylinder reservoir as necessary. If firm pedal pressure cannot be obtained, bleed the brakes. Finally, test drive the vehicle and make the first several stops gentle ones to seat the brake pads.Posted by MoparPartsGiant Specialist
