About Dodge Caliber
As early as 2005, Dodge Caliber debuted at the Geneva Motor Show as a concept car. Then in 2006, the pre-production version Caliber was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show. Four submodels were available for Caliber: Base SE model powered by 1.8 L 148 hp World inline 4-cylinder engine attached to 5-speed Magna T355 manual transmission and optional 2.0 L 158 hp World inline 4-cylinder engine attached to CVT2 automatic transmission; SXT (SXT Sport Wagon) used the same engines as SE but added 2.0 L VW inline 4-cylinder engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission; R/T got power from 2.4 L 172 hp World inline 4-cylinder engine with CVT2 automatic transmission; SRT4 introduced at 2006 Chicago Auto Show featured 2.4 L World inline 4-cylinder Turbo gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Dodge Caliber Common Problems & Maintenance Tips
First, annoying continuous noises while driving. Caliber owners has summarized this problem as audible loud clicking, clunking noises while turning and squeaking sound as accelerated or decelerated. What's more, some also found grease on the inside edge of the tire or along the undersides of the vehicle as well as excessive vibration while driving. Sometimes, the Oil Light would go on caused by low oil pressure. Actually, it is probably the rod bearing, axle shaft or intermediate shaft that went wrong if you have met the same symptoms.
Second, overheating engine. This is a very severe problem as constant overheating engine would shorten the Dodge Caliber's lifespan. Usually, coolant leaking would allow additional air to mix with fuel-air mix, causing the engine to run lean. Thus, this problem also included engine misfires and a decrease in power, acceleration and fuel economy. Once your Caliber encounters similar situations, you had better check if intake manifold or intake manifold gasket is broken.
Tailgate is responsible for protecting the items in your trunk from falling off while the vehicle is moving. Most modern cars use tailgate lock for extra protection. If you find the tailgate does not unlock or tailgate opens without pressing the buttons, you had better change your tailgate lock for your propety safety.
