- Q: How to install a hood latch and cable?A: Mark a line around the latch for alignment before removing it and the hood cable. Reinstall in reverse order, adjusting the latch for secure hood closure. Detach the cable from the latch and remove the left headlight housing. Attach a wire to the cable end for pulling the new cable into the engine compartment. Detach the cable from its clips, possibly cutting some. Under the instrument panel, remove screws and attach the hood release handle. Pull the cable through the firewall into the cab. Attach the wire to the new cable, ensuring it has a grommet. Pull the new cable into the engine compartment and seat the grommet in the firewall. Complete installation in reverse order.
