The trunk lid is substantial and somewhat clumsy to install and uninstall, it takes at least two people to accomplish the task. To uninstall it, open the trunk lid then place towels or mats on the edges of the trunk compartment. There is a harness that plugs into the back of the trunk latch and center brake light, remove the electrical connectors from these by pulling the flexible wire. In the event of any need for the harness to be trimmed the insulated crimp type connectors should be fitted. Mark the reference points around the hinge bolt heads and hinges that can act as a guide upon the time of installation. With help needed, support each side of the trunk lid and unbolt the hinge to trunk lid bolts and the trunk lid is lifted off. For installation, do the removal in the reverse order but make sure that the hinge bolt heads are flush with their respective marks. Place the lid back to its position and ensure that it aligns well with the other panels and adjust if there is some space. In other cases, there is a requirement for some movements that can be easily done by loosening the hinge bolts to allow changing its position for fore-and-aft and side-to-side and by 'threading the lock striker bolts up or down to align it to the body of panels. To access the Trunk Lid Lift Support, locate and turn the lock caps from the support struts that are on the mounting studs and take out, then return the cap back to the stud, slot the strut, and screw the nut back in place. To have access to the latch striker and the release cable you need to take off the sill plates both on left front and rear doors, to partially take off the lower B-pillar, to detach the carpet and to take off the screws in the trunk release cable handle on the floor pan. Route the handle and cable into the rear seat area and detach the rear seat cushion and back, also the left side lower quarter trim panel; route the handle and cable into the trunk. Pull the trunk lining away from the left rear quarter panel and remove the trunk opening sill plate position the striker and drill the locations as marked on the striker, remove the bolts that hold the striker/cable assembly to the trunk closure panel. To install the latch striker and release cable, removal process has to be reversed.
