Discharge the fuel system then remove the connection of the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Take the engine cover from the ball studs and pull the cover out of the engine bay. Remove the screw and nut at the IAT sensor and then unplug it, and then take off the air inlet duct. Disconnect power cables of the Idle Air Control (IAC) motor, the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), and the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor. For turbocharged models take off the throttle inlet pressure (TIP) hose from the intake air duct and the charge air cooler hose connected at the throttle body. Take off the intake manifold support bracket having taken off the bolts holding it to the engine block. Take off the air filter housing, fully detach the accelerator cable use a clamp to take off the cruise control cable if it is installed, fully detach the purge control hoses and the brake booster hose from the intake manifold. LT- Remove the PCV hose from the tubular support and the bracket bolt from the throttle body to the bracket. If one intends to replace or service the intake manifold, the throttle body should be removed but if one is just removing the intake manifold to do the cylinder head then it is not compulsory to remove the throttle body. If this vehicle has an EGR pipe, then, this pipe need to be disconnected from the manifold, and then the upper intake manifold bolts and nuts and the upper intake manifold need to be unbolted and pulled off. Remove the cooling system, then take off the upper radiator hose, then unscrew the fuel line at the fuel rail, and the electrical connectors at the fuel injectors. Take off the dipstick tube brace and for the turbo version take off the lower intake manifold brace by removing bolts which held the dipstick tube and the lower intake manifold brace. Loosen and take out the lower intake manifold fasteners and washers and take out the lower intake manifold and the gasket as well. With straight edge and gauge check the intake manifold to cylinder head surface run-out, and the surface on the cylinder head; If the run out exceeds the specifications, then the intake manifold and or Cylinder head will need to be resurfaced or replaced. New seals to be installed into the lower intake manifold on the models which are not turbocharged and a new manifold gasket for the models which are turbocharged. Place the lower intake manifold and torque the intake manifold fasteners gradually and evenly in the indicated sequence to the torque specification. Stepping up is on the other hand the reverse of stepping out and refill and bleed the cooling system. Inspect the manifold seals for excessive wear or brittleness and replace them if necessary, then reinstall the upper intake manifold and tighten the manifold bolts slowly and uniformly according to the torque specifications contrary to the stated procedure; otherwise, the procedure is removal.
