- Q: How to remove and install an accelerator cable on Dodge Dakota?A:Hemi engines don't use a conventional accelerator cable, instead, the throttle plate is controlled electronically by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) via the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) located at the accelerator pedal. To replace the cable on a Hemi, remove the air intake duct and air resonator box if present, detach the cable from the APPS and the accelerator pedal, and pull it through the firewall. Reinstall in reverse order.
