Dodge Ram 2500 Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Remove a Power Steering Pump on Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Remove the drivebelt. Using a large syringe or suction gun, suck as much fluid out of the power steering fluid reservoir. Position a drain pan under the power steering pump, then disconnect the hoses from the pump. Plug the hoses to prevent excessive fluid loss and the entry of contaminants. Remove any interfering engine components. Remove the pump mounting bolts. The bolts can be accessed through the holes in the power steering pump pulley. Lift the pump from the engine compartment, being careful not to let any power steering fluid drip on the vehicle's paint. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten all fasteners securely. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid, then bleed the system. Re-check the power steering fluid level.
