Drain the oil and replace the oil filter. Remove the starter motor. Remove the bellhousing inspection cover from the front of the transmission. Detach the steering damper from the center steering link. Support the front axle with a jack and remove the lower shock absorber bolts. Lower the jack and allow the axle to hang free. Mark the locations of the oil pan mounting studs. Remove the oil pan mounting bolts/studs and carefully separate the pan from the engine block. Set the oil pan on the axle and remove the oil pump and pickup tube. Remove the oil pan by sliding it out to the rear. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces, removing all traces of oil and old gasket material. Check the oil pan flange for distortion and warpage.
