To remove the air intake duct, loosen the hose clamp screws at each end and disconnect the duct from the air Filter Box and the air resonator box. For the air intake duct/filter Box cover, disconnect the electrical connector, loosen the hose clamps, remove the intake duct fastener, pull off the PCV hose, and disengage the Box cover retaining clips before removing the duct. Inspect the air intake duct for cracks, tears, deterioration, and other damage; if any damage is found, replace it, as a leaking duct can introduce unmetered air into the intake manifold, leading to a lean air/fuel mixture that may cause rough idle or misfires. For replacing the air Filter Box, first disconnect the air intake duct, then remove the filter element and disengage any plastic retaining clips from the Box. Grasp the air Filter Box firmly and lift it straight up to pull the locator pins out of their grommets. Reinstallation follows the reverse order of removal.
