- Q: How to remove and install the door handle, door latch assembly, and door lock cylinder on the Jeep Liberty?A:For 2007 and earlier models, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then remove the interior door trim panel and carefully detach the watershield from the inside of the door. On front doors, remove the two bolts for the glass channel from the rear of the door, moving the rubber channel aside for clearance. Disconnect the rod from the outside door handle, which can be done at the handle or at the latch, and also disconnect the rod for the lock button at the latch. For front doors, disconnect the rod for the key lock at the latch, unbolt the latch assembly, pull it out, and disconnect the wiring. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the door closes properly by readjusting the latch as necessary. For the lock cylinder, remove the outside door handle and extract the lock cylinder from the handle by removing the Torx-head screw, with installation being the reverse of removal.
