- Q: How to disconnect and remove the antenna on Jeep Patriot?A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. The antenna mast simply unscrews from the base, and in most cases, it can be unscrewed by hand; however, if necessary, use a pair of pliers to break it loose. The antenna base is mounted on the right front fender and is routed through the cowling and into the vehicle. Remove the right-front fenderwell splash shield. The antenna cable has an inline connector under the passenger side kick panel; disconnect this electrical connector. Remove the antenna mast, unscrew the antenna base retaining nut, and remove the antenna base. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the roof-mounted antenna used for satellite radio, lower the rear section of the headliner to gain access to the underside antenna dust cover. The antenna is glued to the roof and can be removed with a length of nylon string or fishing line; starting at the front of the antenna, work the line back and forth using a sawing motion until the perimeter of the antenna's adhesive has been covered. This is more conveniently accomplished if the nylon string has handles attached to each end. Working from inside the vehicle, disconnect the antenna electrical connectors. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, release the antenna retaining tab on one side while pushing up on the antenna, then release the other tab and remove the antenna from the roof. Installation is the reverse of removal.
