The door lock actuator is part of the door latch, and for an operating description and basic diagnostics, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Although not absolutely necessary, replacing the latch is easier when the main door panel has been removed first. Begin by removing the door switch assembly trim panel, and if easier access is needed, also remove the main door trim panel. Disconnect the latch electrical connector and separate the wiring harness from the retaining clip, then disconnect the latch rods from the latch by unsnapping and swiveling the colored plastic retainer off the rod before separating the rod from the retainer. Unscrew and remove the latch retaining bolts, then separate the inside latch plastic bracket from the door panel by unscrewing the Torx bolt, disengaging the hooks, and removing the door latch. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the outside handle, remove the door switch assembly trim panel and let it hang by the tether hooks. Disconnect the latch rods from the door handle and lock cylinder, then remove the handle bolts. Installation is the reverse of removal. The front door lock cylinder can be removed after taking off the outside door handle; with the handle removed, the lock cylinder slides out of the outside handle, and installation is the reverse of removal.
