First, you should take off the oil pan. Then you must undo the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt and take out the pump as well as a part of it called an extension shaft from the engine. To install the pump, place it in position so that its top end of the hexagonal extension shaft aligns with the hexagonal socket in the lower end of the distributor drive gear.
