The Fuel Rail of the Ram 2500 directs the flow of pressurized fuel to each injector. The Fuel Rail is a metal tube that supplies fuel at constant pressure to the fuel injectors in a motor vehicle engine. Early gasoline versions of the Ram 2500 applied throttle body injection without a dedicated Fuel Rail. Later port injected engines adopted a metal tube style Fuel Rail that supplies constant pressure from an electric pump. The powertrain computer varies injector pulse width to match load. Many modern diesel trims use common rail direct injection with a high strength Fuel Rail holding over 29,000 psi, allowing the injection of many tiny droplets of fuel enabling better mixing with air for a better power economy balance. Similar to the diesel versions, the gasoline direct injected variants of the Ram 2500 also feature a high pressure common rail system. In all Ram 2500 configurations, the main differences are pressure levels and injector placements. Older low pressure systems mounted injectors at the throttle body while newer systems have them at each intake port or directly in the combustion chamber. All Fuel Rails, irrespective of type, feed every injector from the center.
