First of all, drive belts are vital for operation and should be inspected. The alternator belt is adjustable, while the power steering and air conditioning belts are adjusted by an automatic tensioner. To inspect, raise the vehicle, remove the wheel and splash shield, and check each belt for damage. Adjust the alternator belt tension by loosening the pivot bolt and lock nut, then turning the adjusting bolt. Replace both belts simultaneously. To replace the power steering/air conditioning belt, release the tensioner, remove the old belt, and install the new one.
