To operate and check the power brake booster, start the engine and depress the pedal. If the pedal goes down slightly, the operation is normal. To check the airtightness, start the engine and turn it off after one or two minutes. To remove, pump the pedal several times with the engine off and disconnect the cable from the remote ground terminal or battery. Unbolt the PCM or PDC and its bracket, remove the ICU, and clean the area where the master cylinder attaches to the power brake booster. Disconnect the brake lines and vacuum hose, and remove the brake light switch. Disconnect the brake pedal pushrod and remove the nuts attaching the booster to the firewall. To install, place the booster into position and tighten the retaining nuts. Connect the brake pedal and install a new vacuum seal on the master cylinder. Bleed the brake system and test the operation of the brakes before normal operation.
