If replacement is necessary due to fluid leakage, it is recommended to replace the calipers rather than overhauling them. New and factory rebuilt units are available for exchange. Always replace the calipers in pairs, never just one. To remove the caliper, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. If removing a front caliper, disconnect the brake hose from the caliper by removing the banjo bolt and plug the brake hose to prevent contamination. Discard the sealing washers and use new ones during installation. If removing a rear caliper, remove the brake hose. If the caliper is being removed for access to other components, do not disconnect the hose. Remove the caliper mounting bolts (guide pins). To install the caliper, reverse the removal procedure. Replace the sealing washers on front calipers. Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Bleed the brake circuit if the brake hose was disconnected. Check for leaks and pump the brake pedal to bring the pads into contact with the disc. Test the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.

For SRT models with fixed calipers, remove the caliper-to-steering knuckle bolts at the front or caliper-to-rear knuckle bolts at the rear to detach the caliper from the knuckle. For installation, reverse the removal procedure, tightening the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. If the brake hose was detached, install new sealing washers on each side of the brake hose fitting and tighten the banjo bolt to the specified torque. If the hose was disconnected, bleed the brake system. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque.
