Remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connector and spark plug wire boot for the companion cylinder. Remove the coil mounting bolts and carefully pull up with a twisting motion to disengage the rubber spark plug boots. Inspect the condition of the rubber spark plug boot and replace if necessary.

The first step is to dampen a cloth and use it to clean the coils.

Follow similar steps but check all eight ignition coils. Clean the outer case, primary terminals, and high-tension terminal for any damage or corrosion. Check the primary resistance and replace the coil if it is not within range. There is no published secondary resistance value, so if the primary resistance is within range but the coil is still causing issues, try swapping it with an adjacent coil. If the misfire DTC follows the coil, it is likely defective.

Compare the measured resistance to the specified range and replace the ignition coil if necessary. If the primary and secondary resistance values are within specification but the coil is still misfiring or causing trouble codes, try swapping it with an adjacent coil. If the issue persists, consult a professional for further testing.
