The compressor mounting bolts should be removed, and the compressor should be taken out of the vehicle.

Replace the accumulator, have the air conditioning system discharged, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, remove the accessory drivebelts, unplug the electrical connector from the compressor clutch, disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor, plug the open fittings to prevent entry of dirt and moisture, remove and discard the old refrigerant line fitting O-rings, disconnect the high pressure cut-out switch from the back of the compressor, remove the compressor mounting bolts and then remove it from the vehicle.
