    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Replace the Engine Cooling Fan on Chrysler 200? Posted by Customer
    A:
Look at the underhood fuse/relay box fan relays for 2011 and later vehicles. If they work fine but the fan stays off as the engine heats up too much, there's something wrong with the cooling fan system. Examine all wiring and connections to the fan motor while making sure the relays do their job. When no clear problems show up, we may need to look at the ECT sensor or PCM to find the real cause. Get help from a dealer service crew or repair shop that can use special diagnosis tools to solve your cooling fan and circuit problems. Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable from its remote ground or the battery. Securely lift the vehicle's front end and place jackstands under it to support the weight. Apply the parking brake before beginning repairs. Open the cooling system, disconnect the cooling fan's electrical connection and pins holding the wiring harness, take out the bolts that hold the wiring loom in place on top of the radiator core support. First, loosen and slide back the clamp that holds the upper radiator hose on. Then, remove the hose from its connection on the radiator. Let out the oil dipstick tube to make room, then take off all the clips that hold the fan to the radiator itself. Also on later models, unscrew the shroud mounting bolts. Unscrew the cooling fan assembly vertically until it's free and lifts out of the engine bay. To install the fan, simply put the fan assembly into the side and bottom retaining clips. While you redo the connections, refill the cooling system.

    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Replace the Engine Cooling Fan on Dodge Avenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
If the engine is overheating and the cooling fan is not coming on when the engine temperature rises to an excessive level, check the fan relays in the underhood fuse/relay box. If the relays are okay, check all wiring and connections to the fan motor. If no obvious problems are found, the problem could be the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor or the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Have the cooling fan system and circuit diagnosed by a dealer service department or repair shop with the proper diagnostic equipment. To replace the cooling fan, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Set the parking brake, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Drain the cooling system. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connector and harness retaining pins. On 2011 and later models, remove the fasteners holding the wire loom to the upper radiator core support. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator. On 2011 and later models, remove the oil dipstick tube to make room for fan removal. Remove the upper clips and fasteners holding the fan assembly to the radiator. On later models, remove the fan shroud mounting bolts. Remove the cooling fan assembly by pulling it straight up and out of the engine compartment. Installation is the reverse of removal. Place the fan assembly back into the retaining clips for the side and bottom. Refill the cooling system.

    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Replace the Engine Cooling Fan on Chrysler Sebring? Posted by Customer
    A:
If your engine is getting too hot in 2010 or older models, and your cooling fan won't turn on, visit the fuses and relays under the hood to examine the fan relays. Start by checking all wiring and motor connections if the fan relays are working correctly. When a simple check doesn't find anything wrong, it's likely that either the ECT or PCM is causing the issue. For expert diagnosis, have the cooling fan circuit and system tested in a professional dealer or repair shop that has the right diagnostic tools. To take out the cooling fan, unwind the black cable, get the car into park, boost up the front end with jackstands, and support the vehicle. Take off the cooling system's liquid, detach the cooling fan electrical cord from its pins, and free the top radiator tube from the radiator by squeezing the clamp and pulling it toward you. Unclip the top parts keeping the fan attached to the radiator, and also slide out the attaching screws from the fan shroud on newer models. Press your fingers under the cooling fan from the engine compartment and pull it straight up to remove it. To put the fan back together, put the fan into the clips that hold it on the side and bottom, and fill up your car's cooling system afterward.

    Q:
How can an Engine Cooling Fan be tested for the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
For a radiator-mounted electric cooling fan, if it is not coming on when the A/C is selected or the engine temperature rises, the fan motor can be tested by connecting it directly to the battery with a fused jumper wire. If the fan motor does not come on, it should be replaced. If the motor is okay but still not coming on, the fan relay may be defective and should be checked by a qualified repair shop. Wiring and connections to the fan motor should also be checked.
