    Remove the left lower silencer from the instrument panel and the left lower reinforcement from the instrument panel. Remove the center bezel from the dash and the forward floor console. Remove the radio, heater or heater/air conditioner control assembly, and the cigarette lighter. If equipped, remove the message center-trip computer. Disconnect the side window demister tubes from the top of the heater/air conditioner unit. Remove the upper attaching bolts from the steering column and allow the steering wheel to rest on the driver's seat. Remove the cover from the upper defroster outlet in the dash.

    Remove the center bezel, then remove the two control mounting screws and slide the control assembly back. Detach the cables, wires, and vacuum hoses, and unplug the electrical connector. Label the vacuum hoses to prevent switched connections during reassembly. Finally, remove the control unit.
