    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install the antenna and antenna cable on the Dodge Dakota? Posted by Customer
    A:
To disassemble the antenna mast, it can be turned counter clockwise with an open-end wrench, installation is a reversal of the above. There are two antenna cables: the antenna mast cable links the antenna mast with the instrument panel antenna cable below the right end of the instrument panel, after which the instrument panel antenna cable goes to the radio. First of all, take out the right-side kick panel, further, the cable harness responsible for the antennae mast's coaxial connector must be disconnected from the instrument panel cable connector. Apply some looseness to the right front wheel lug nuts, lift the car using the jackstands and remove the right front wheel. Third, remove the splash shield from the right front wheel housing and with needle-nose pliers, un-clip the antenna mast cable from the panel but remember to first take off the grommet. There then with the help of the antenna wrench one should unscrew the cap nut at the end of an antenna mounting base until it can be removed, and the final step is removing the antenna mounting base adapter which is usually at the top part of the fender. Slide the bottom of the antenna mounting base down through the mounting hole in the fender, yank out the grommet and extract the antenna cable. For the instrument panel antenna cable, there is depression screw driving technique which involves; First you have to unscrew the cable from the mast, then you will use a flashlight and a mirror to reach the back of the glove compartment where the clips which hold the cable are found. Pull the radio out and free the instrument panel antenna cable at its back, then extrude the previous cable through the radio mounting gap; installation is the procedure in reverse of that.

    Q:
How to disconnect and remove the antenna on Jeep Compass? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. The antenna mast simply unscrews from the base, and in most cases, it can be unscrewed by hand; however, if necessary, use a pair of pliers to break it loose. The antenna base is mounted on the right front fender and is routed through the cowling and into the vehicle. Remove the right-front fenderwell splash shield. The antenna cable has an inline connector under the passenger side kick panel; disconnect this electrical connector. Remove the antenna mast, unscrew the antenna base retaining nut, and remove the antenna base. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the roof-mounted antenna used for satellite radio, lower the rear section of the headliner to gain access to the underside antenna dust cover. The antenna is glued to the roof and can be removed with a length of nylon string or fishing line; starting at the front of the antenna, work the line back and forth using a sawing motion until the perimeter of the antenna's adhesive has been covered. This is more conveniently accomplished if the nylon string has handles attached to each end. Working from inside the vehicle, disconnect the antenna electrical connectors. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, release the antenna retaining tab on one side while pushing up on the antenna, then release the other tab and remove the antenna from the roof. Installation is the reverse of removal.
