Q:
How to remove Fuel Injectors and Fuel Rail on Dodge Ram 1500 and Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
A:
To replace the fuel injectors, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. For 3.6L V6 engines, remove the upper intake manifold. For 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, remove the air intake duct and disconnect the fuel supply line. Label and disconnect any vacuum hoses and electrical connectors that may interfere with fuel rail removal. Remove the ignition coils and clean any debris around the injectors. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts and gently rock the fuel rail to loosen the injectors. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly. For 5.7L and 6.4L HEMI engines, remove the engine cover and the air inlet tube. Disconnect the fuel supply line and the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors. Detach the PCV hose and the air make-up hose. Remove the fuel rail mounting bolts and carefully pull and wiggle the injectors to remove them. Remove the fuel rail and injectors as a single assembly. To remove an injector from the fuel rail, remove the injector retainer clip and pull the injector out. Replace the O-rings and lubricate them before installing the injector back into the fuel rail. Finally, reinstall the fuel rail and injectors, and check for fuel leakage.
