    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install the crankshaft seal in a 3.3L and 3.8L V6 engine on Chrysler Town & Country? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the crankshaft pulley. Check the way the seal is placed; the new one has to be placed to the same depth with the old one and its position has to be the same. It is recommended that the oil seal is withdrawn using a seal puller or a large screwdriver to pull out the front seal without scratching the crankshaft surface. It is however necessary not to scratch the surface of the cover or the crankshaft by winding the tape around the end of the screwdriver. Put clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease on the out side of the new seal and place it on cover in such a way they that rubber lip (spring side) should be inside of the cover. Fix the seal into position by using the seal driver or big mouthed deep socket and gradually knock it with a hammer in such a way that the sealing edge goes round the bore of the shaft. The work must come to a halt when the front face is as deep as it should be. Reinstall the crankshaft pulley.

    Q:
How to replace rear Crankshaft Seal in four cylinder engine on Dodge Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
The rear Crankshaft Seal is pressed into a bore machined into the rear main bearing cap and engine block. Begin by removing the driveplate, ensuring that the Crankshaft Seal is installed flush with the outer surface of the block. Carefully pry out the old seal using a flat blade screwdriver, taking care not to nick or scratch the sealing surfaces on the crankshaft or seal bore to prevent an oil leak. Thoroughly clean the crankshaft and seal bore in the block, de-greasing them with a rag soaked in lacquer thinner or acetone, and do not lubricate the lip or outer diameter of the new seal; it must be installed dry as it comes from the manufacturer. Position the new seal on the crankshaft with the words "THIS SIDE OUT" facing outward, and use an appropriate size driver and pilot tool to drive the seal into the cylinder block until it is flush with the outer surface. Ensure the seal is not driven in past flush to avoid an oil leak. Finally, installation of the remaining components follows the reverse order of removal.

    Q:
