- A:The camshaft position sensor, along with the crankshaft position sensor, determines the fuel injection timing for each cylinder. It is a Hall-Effect device triggered by the reluctor wheel on the camshaft. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, the sensor is located on the right side of the cylinder head towards the front. On 3.7L V6 engines, it is located at the front of the right-bank cylinder head. On 4.0L models, it is located at the front-top of the timing belt cover below the alternator. To remove the sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and follow specific steps depending on the engine type. For installation, carefully insert the sensor into the cylinder head, adjust the air gap, and tighten the mounting bolts. - A:Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. For 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, raise the front end of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Then, disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor and remove the sensor mounting bolt. For Hemi engines, remove the air filter housing and/or air intake tube, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the sensor mounting bolt. For 3.6L V6 engines, remove the air filter housing and/or air intake tube, and if necessary, the upper intake manifold.
