This procedure is specifically for the 42RLE automatic transmission with hydraulic and adaptive electronics. The input speed sensor and output speed sensor are located on the left side of the transmission housing. The input speed sensor is the forward unit, while the output speed sensor is the rear one. For the NAG1 transmission, which is all-electronic, the speed sensors are located inside the control unit within the transmission. It is important to note that replacing these sensors should be done by a professional automatic transmission specialist. To replace the sensor, first, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Locate the speed sensor to be replaced and place a drip pan underneath to catch any leaking ATF. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor and remove the mounting bolt. When installing the new sensor or reusing the old one, ensure the O-ring is in good condition and apply a non-hardening thread locking compound to the mounting bolt threads.

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, raise the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ISS or OSS sensor, place a drain pan underneath the sensor that you're going to replace, remove the sensor mounting bolt and pull out the sensor.
