    Q:
How to replace parking brake shoes and adjust the parking brake on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take off the brake disc and also the hub and bearing assembly if that is needed ,but it should be noted that the shoes can be interchanged without the removal of the hub but space will be very limited. Remove all the dirt from the brake parts and wash with brake system cleaner where necessary and to ensure one follows the correct sequence as described in the illustration but one should read the captions in the brake shoe replacement. Mount the brake disc and caliper, then the wheel; in turn replace the shoes of the other rear wheel. After both sides are built and the wheels are added, there will be a rubber plug at the brake backing plate at the parking brake adjuster. Inserting a brake adjusting tool or a screwdriver and turning the adjuster star wheels until the shoes stop the wheel from spinning from turning them; backoff the adjuster for six notches for the needed shoe drum clearance before replacing the rubber plug. Ensure tightness of both brake shoes, engage the parking brake and check its efficiency and adjust, if necessary the clearance of the shoe. Last of all, jack down the car and then slightly tighten up the wheel lugs to the recommended amount of turn.
