If the starter does not activate, bench test the starter assembly, solenoid, and starter motor for defects.

    How do you remove the Starter Motor for the 2006 Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer

    Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the middle engine splash shield. Next, remove the bolt that secures the intermediate steering shaft to the lower steering coupling shaft and separate the two shafts. Remove the nut that secures the battery cable to the terminal stud on the starter solenoid, disconnect the cable from the terminal stud, and disconnect the electrical connector from the spade terminal on the solenoid. Remove the three starter mounting bolts and the oil cooler line clip. To remove the starter, pull it forward and down, work it up over the exhaust pipe, then work it past the disconnected steering shafts. For installation, reverse the removal steps and don't forget to reattach the oil cooler line clip to the middle starter mounting bolt.
