    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
Where is the Thermostat located for the 2015 Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The thermostat is located at the top front area of the engine at the intake manifold and connected to a large diameter coolant hose.

    Q:
What steps should you follow to replace the Thermostat for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the cooling system. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the splash shield on earlier models or the intake duct assembly on later models. Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine to locate the thermostat housing. On certain engines, disconnect the electrical connector to the coolant temperature sensor. Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine to locate the thermostat housing. Squeeze the tabs on the hose clamp to loosen it from the hose(s), then detach the hose(s) from the thermostat housing. If the outer surface of the thermostat housing is deteriorated, it may need to be replaced. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine. Note how the thermostat is installed and remove it from the engine. Install a new rubber gasket around the thermostat and insert the thermostat and gasket into the thermostat housing. Install the thermostat housing and bolts onto the engine. Reattach the hose(s) to the fitting(s) and tighten the hose clamp(s) securely. Refill the cooling system. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature, then check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.

    Q:
What should be checked before assuming the Thermostat is to blame for a cooling system problem for the 2017 Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the coolant level, drivebelt tension, and temperature gauge operation.

    Q:
What should be done if the Thermostat causes the engine to run hot for the 2013 Ram 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Check the temperature of the radiator hose that leads from the thermostat to the radiator. If the hose isn't hot, but the engine is, the thermostat is probably stuck closed and should be replaced.
