Jeep 5114037AH Lower Control Arm Ball Joint

Check the control armball joints for looseness when separated from the steering knuckle. If loose or the ball stud can be turned, replace the ball joint. To test, raise the vehicle, support it on jack stands, and use a dial indicator on the control arms. The indicator should show no more than 0.060-inch deflection. If it does, replace the ball joint. Upper ball joints require replacing the entire upper control arm assembly. Lower ball joints can be replaced by removing the lower control arm and having a shop press out the old unit and press in a new one.
