To remove the Brake Master Cylinder, first, place rags under the brake line fittings and prepare caps or plastic bags to cover the ends of the lines once disconnected, taking care to avoid spilling brake fluid, which can damage paint. Loosen the threaded fittings connecting the brake lines to the Brake Master Cylinder using a flare nut wrench to prevent rounding off the corners of the nuts; for 2006 and earlier models, unbolt and set aside the EVAP canister for better access. Pull the brake lines away slightly and plug the ends to prevent contamination, and for 2007 and later models, disconnect the electrical connector for the brake fluid level indicator at the fluid reservoir. Remove the two mounting nuts to detach the Brake Master Cylinder assembly from the brake booster and take the Brake Master Cylinder out of the vehicle. After removing the reservoir cover, discard any remaining fluid in the reservoir. For installation, carefully reverse the removal steps and proceed to bleed the brakes.
