    Q:
How are the electrical circuits of a protected, and what steps should be taken when dealing with blown fuses on Chrysler Cirrus? Posted by Customer
    A:
Electronic circuit of the vehicle is protected by fuses, circuit breakers and fusible links; one fuse block is located under a cover that can be easily accessed by opening the driver's door and labelled fuse identification is placed beneath the cover. Also, there is a fuse and relay block referred as as Power Distribution Center (PDC) located on the left-hand side portion of the engine compartment near the radiator upper support and which also contains fuses as well as relays. Every fuse, relay or circuit breaker protects one or the other circuit, but the many circuits and fuses are labeled on the underside of the PDC or fuse block cover. Blade terminal design fuses are installed in fuse block to ease the miniaturization and removal and replacement by the use of fingers; identification of a faulty fuse in the fuse block can be done by checking the clear plastic element to find if it has been damaged. Blown fuses must always be replaced with correct type and rating, because, although fuses that have distinct physical differences may be of different ratings, the correct type should be used for each circuit which is protected by fuses, with the amperage value molded into the body of black colored fuses. In case a fuse after replacement blows off immediately, it should not be replaced again before the actual cause is understood most commonly due to short circuit in the wiring from a break in the wire or if it has worn off.

    Q:
What is the purpose of the fuses, circuit breakers, and fusible links, and how should they be inspected and replaced on Jeep Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
The vehicle's electrical circuits are safeguarded by fuses, circuit breakers, and fusible links, located under the instrument panel. Also, each fuse protects a specific circuit, identified on the fuse panel. If an electrical component fails, you can check the fuse first. A blown fuse is identifiable through its clear body and damaged element.
