Lift the tailgate and then unscrew and, then pop off the latch cover. For models built in 2007 or later, there is a small trim piece attached to the latch that needs to be removed with a trim tool. Subsequently, it is a good idea to take away the clip and undo the latch rod(s), and it is necessary to mark that some vehicles manufactured in 2007 and later might require more than one rod to be disconnected. Next, we have the latch retaining screws, lock cylinder rod with the retaining clip and if required the lock cylinder separated by removal of E-clip, detaching of the lever and subsequent removal of the lock cylinder. Subsequently, undo the latch handle screws; disengage the handle from the latch and finally, the latch mechanism can be taken out. Last but not the least, installation is done in reverse manner of removal.
