Jeep 5073180AA Heater-Heater Core Assembly

First have the air conditioning system evacuated and the refrigerant recovered. Then, disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system. Disconnect the heater hoses at the heater core inlet and outlet, as well as the two refrigerant lines at the firewall. Disconnect the heater control cables and defroster duct. On 1997 and later models, remove the instrument panel. Disconnect the housing attaching nuts from the studs on the engine compartment side of the firewall. Tilt the heater housing assembly down and pull it to the rear to remove it from the vehicle. Finally, remove the retaining screws on the housing assembly and pull the heater core straight out of the housing.
