    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump in four cylinder engine on Jeep Comanche? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the oil pan and oil pump from the engine block. If defective, replace the pump, priming the new one with clean engine oil. For four-cylinder engines, align the gear tang with the distributor shaft slot for installation. For six-cylinder engines, align the gear tang with the distributor shaft slot (1987-1999 models) or camshaft position sensor drive shaft (2000 models). Reinstall the pump, tighten bolts to specified torque, and replace the oil pan. Add oil, run the engine, and check for leaks.

    Q:
How to remove and install an oil pump in V6 engine on Jeep Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, you should take off the oil pan. Then you must undo the pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt and take out the pump as well as a part of it called an extension shaft from the engine. To install the pump, place it in position so that its top end of the hexagonal extension shaft aligns with the hexagonal socket in the lower end of the distributor drive gear. It is mandatory to have this alignment since it is what will make sure that a distributor will always drive an oil pump whenever they are working together. Tighten up your oil pump-to-rear main bearing cap bolt and make sure to follow torque specifications laid down. Finally, fit back oil pan again.

    Q:
What is the installation process for the Oil Pump in the 2003 Jeep Wrangler? Posted by Customer
