    Q:
How to remove the power steering pump on Jeep Grand Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
For all but 3.6L V6 engines, first before beginning, be sure to unhook the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. It is advisable to vacuum the power steering fluid reservoir using a large syringe is vacuum can also be used by means of a suction gun. On 2011 and later models, take off the air filter intake tube and the housing that is related to it. Place drain pan directly below the power steering pump and then remove the pressure line from the power steering pump, and the return hose from the power steering reservoir, and plug these to make sure that there is little fluid loss and contamination. Remove the drive belt. With the 3.6L V6 engines with production date of 2011 and later, you have to clear the way by taking off the right shock absorber so that you can feel easy placing the steering gear. Thereafter, you can drop the power steering pump mounting bolts as can be seen through the holes on the power steering pump pulley and carrying the pump out of the engine compartment without allowing the power steering fluid to drip on your car. For the 3.6L V6 engines, this entails removing the connection of the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, absorbing the fluid from the reservoir using a syringe or a suction gun, and the removal of the electrical connectors and the harness clips from the pump as well as the removal of the supply, return line hoses and the clamps and plugging of the lines with a view of avoiding loss of the fluid. Place a drain pan beneath the pump if necessary and then unbolt the pressure and return line bracket bolt, lift the front end of the car on elevating jack stands, and if it has an engine under cover, then remove it. Take off the metal pressure line retaining bolt which is used to secure the pressure line from the pump hence removing the pressure line, then remove the three bolts used in the mounting of the pump and pull out the pump. In fact, it is the exact opposite; make sure all the bolts and screws are tightened tightly and the power steering reservoir should be filled with their recommended fluid, the power steering system should be bled before the power steering fluid level is again checked.
