    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
    A:
Partially drain cooling system below cylinder heads. For V6, disconnect ECT sensor from lower intake manifold, wrap threads with Teflon tape, then refill. For V8, remove accessory drivebelt, unbolt A/C compressor, disconnect ECT sensor from engine block, wrap threads with Teflon tape, then refill.

    Q:
How to replace a Coolant Temperature Sensor on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Partially drain the cooling system to a level that's slightly below the cylinder heads. For V6 engines, the ECT sensor is located at the front of the lower intake manifold on 2.7L and 3.5L engines, while on 3.6L engines, it is found on the rear of the left (driver's) cylinder head. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Ensure the cooling system is drained below the level of the sensor. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor; for the 2.7L V6, depress the release tab to disconnect and then unscrew the sensor from the lower intake manifold. Using a deep socket, unscrew the ECT sensor from the lower intake manifold for 2.7L and 3.5L or from the left cylinder head for 3.6L. To prevent leakage and thread corrosion, wrap the threads of the ECT sensor with Teflon sealing tape before installation, whether using the old sensor or a new unit. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring the ECT sensor is tightened to the specified torque. Refill the cooling system. For V8 engines, the ECT sensor is located on the front end of the engine block, below the air conditioning compressor. Remove the accessory drive belt, unbolt the air conditioning compressor, and set it aside without disconnecting any air conditioning pressure or return line fittings. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor and unscrew the sensor from the intake manifold. Using a deep socket, unscrew the ECT sensor from the intake manifold. Again, wrap the threads of the ECT sensor with Teflon sealing tape before installation. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, ensuring the ECT sensor is tightened to the specified torque. Refill the cooling system.

    Q:
How to check and replace Coolant Temperature Sensor on Dodge Dakota? Posted by Customer
    A:
The coolant temperature system has a dash warning light or gauge and an Engine Coolant Temperature sensor on the engine. If overheating is indicated, check the coolant level and wiring harness connectors. When the ignition is turned to START, the light should come on, showing a working bulb.

    Q:
Where is the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Located on Dodge Nitro? Posted by Customer
    A:
The engine coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor mounted into an engine water jacket. The change in resistance values directly affects the voltage signal from the sensor to the PCM. As the sensor temperature increases, resistance values decrease, and as the sensor temperature decreases, resistance values increase. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, the sensor is located on the left side of the front of the cylinder head. On 3.7L V6 engines, the sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold, behind the alternator. To replace the sensor, partially drain the cooling system, disconnect the electrical connector, and unscrew the sensor. Before installing the new sensor, wrap the threads with Teflon sealing tape to prevent leakage and thread corrosion. Installation is the reverse of removal. Finally, refill the cooling system.

    Q:
How to check and replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on a Dodge Magnum? Posted by Customer
    A:
The coolant temperature indicator system includes a warning light or temperature gauge on the dash and a coolant temperature sending unit on the engine. The ECT sensor functions as the sending unit and provides information to the PCM. If an overheating indication occurs, check the coolant level and wiring harness. When the ignition switch is turned to START, the indicator light should come on.

    Q:
How to check and replace Coolant Temperature Sensor on Dodge Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The coolant temperature indicator system includes a warning light or temperature gauge on the dash and a coolant temperature sending unit on the engine. The ECT sensor provides information to the PCM. If the indicator light doesn't come on, check for a burned-out bulb, faulty ignition switch, or an open circuit. If the light doesn't go out, check for any stored trouble codes in the PCM. If the engine tends to overheat, check the coolant to ensure it's correctly mixed. For ECT sensor replacement.

    Q:
What Steps Should You Follow to Replace the Coolant Temperature Sensor on Dodge Ram 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, drain the cooling system. Then, disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Before installing the sensor, encase the threads with Teflon tape to stop leaks. For HEMI engines, remove the drive belt and unbolt the air conditioning compressor to access the ECT sensor. Encase the threads with Teflon sealing tape before installation. Finally, refill the cooling system.

    Q:
How to diagnose and troubleshoot the coolant temperature indicator system and Coolant Temperature Sensor on Jeep Grand Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
First of all, the coolant temperature indicator system includes a dash warning light or gauge and an engine coolant temperature sensor. This sensor informs the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and acts as the coolant temperature-sending unit. If overheating is indicated, check the coolant level and wiring harness connectors. The indicator light should illuminate when the ignition is turned to START and the engine is cranking, showing a working bulb. Once the engine starts, the light should go out unless overheating occurs.
