    On 2.4L engines, remove the intake manifold (2014 and earlier) or the exhaust manifold (2015 and later). Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the knock sensor(s). Remove the mounting bolt(s) and detach the sensor(s). Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the knock sensor to the specified torque.

    The knock sensor is on the side of the engine block under the intake manifold. To replace the knock sensor, begin by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connectors from the knock sensors and then remove the mounting bolt, pulling out the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure to tighten the bolt to the specified torque.

    Start by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). For the 3.6L V6 engine, remove the intake manifolds and then disconnect the electrical connector(s) before removing the sensor(s) mounting bolt(s). For the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, remove the intake manifold and then disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector located at the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. For HEMI engines, raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor and remove the knock sensor mounting bolt. Finally, install the knock sensor(s) by reversing the removal process and tightening the mounting bolts.
