To begin the radio removal process, disconnect the negative cable at the battery. For models from 1987 to 1995, remove the instrument panel, while for 1997 to 2010 models, take off the center bezel. For 2007 to 2010 models, carefully pry off the upper and lower center trim panels using a trim stick, and for 2011 and later models, remove the instrument panel center trim panel and the instrument cluster bezel. Remove the radio retaining screws for all models. If the radio is of the REQ or RET type, pressing the Set and Scan buttons simultaneously will display "transportation mode" on the screen, allowing for removal. If the radio has an internal HDD, back up user data using a scan tool, as failure to do so will result in loss of preset stations and preferences. Slide the radio out, support it, disconnect the ground cable, antenna, and electrical connectors, then remove the assembly from the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal, and for REO or RET types, ensure to take the radio out of "transportation mode" by manipulating the J13 fuse in the fuse and relay box. If the radio has an HDD, reconnect via USB to restore customer data. For speakers in 1987 to 1995 models, access the passenger's side speaker by removing four retaining nuts from behind the instrument panel, detach the speaker, and unplug the connector. For the driver's side, remove nuts from the parking brake assembly in the engine compartment, lower the assembly in the passenger compartment, and then access and remove the speaker. For 1997 and later models, for instrument panel speakers, remove screws securing the speaker bezel, disconnect the amplifier if applicable, and carefully pry off the speaker bezel to access the speakers. Remove the foam baffle, screws, and unplug the electrical connector to take out the speaker, including any tweeters for 2007 and later models. For sound bar speakers, remove screws securing the grille and speaker, lower them, and unplug the connector. Installation for all speakers follows the reverse order of removal.
