    Q:
How to replace the Brake Light Switch on Chrysler Laser? Posted by Customer
    A:
First of all, disconnect the wire connectors, clutch the switch, and remove it. The brake pedal will slightly move forward. Gently pull the pedal back as far as it can go and this action made the switch to ratchet backward to its right position. Only a small amount of movement is needed and there is no need for additional adjustment.

    Q:
How to troubleshoot and replace a brake light switch on Chrysler Imperial? Posted by Customer
    A:
There is a brake light switch that is underneath the dash and at the top of the assembly of the brake pedal. You can check to see if voltage is present in a wire between the battery and switch using a test light as part of troubleshooting. Sort out any circuit problems if there is no voltage and if there is, don't be depressed by these lights on your car. On the contrary, they could be due to a fault on your brake pedal. On release, there would be 1 or 2 volts appearing between this switch and any lamp in the brake system; then it needs to be replaced but you must make sure that you count how many volts is coming from your car battery while you are doing it. Now, push down on the pedal again and test for voltage again. If there's voltage, then it means that there could be some problem with your braking system like brakes or even bad wiring connections which will not allow enough current through leading to failure; whereas, in the case where voltage does not seem to change upon pressing down onto pedals till all are reached at their limits which denote an open circuit somewhere inside wiring-both situations will require replacing switches without fail. Before fitting new switch into position though, just remove old one first by unplugging its connector before removing this device itself before putting the new unit back right into the same location, and lastly adjust necessary lever arms accordingly thereby bringing them to proper position.

    Q:
What precautions should be taken during the installation of a brake light switch on Jeep Grand Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
Extreme care should be exercised not to turn the small lever on the new switch until all the installation processes are over because doing this will cause the switch to be replaced again. The switch is unique in that it can only be inserted once, so it must be replaced by a new one after it has been removed. This switch is found on a bracket connected to the steering column and the brake light switch has an inherent keeper built into the body of the switch, on the top side of the brake pedal. To start with, one has to press and hold the brake pedal. Third, turn around the switch the further thirty degrees in the clockwise direction to free up the switch retainer and then snap out the switch from its holder. It is now necessary to disconnect the electrical connector and eliminate the switch as well. Afterward, the electrical connector is to be plugged on the new switch. After firmly holding the brake pedal in the fully-applied position, engage the tab on the switch to the notch in the switch bracket, then push the switch in and turn it anti-clockwise to a limit of thirty degrees. Last, rotate the small lever on the switch to align it with the switch, thus closing the internal contacts of the switch then check the brakes to confirm the functionality of the switch.
