To install or remove the components it is possible to start by getting rid of the grille and upper radiator crossmember and then the center support bracket. Then what is needed is to unbolt the next set of fasteners that hold the transaxle oil cooler in position on top of the air conditioning condenser, then unclamp all the hoses connected to the oil cooler before finally, removing the cooler altogether. In non-turbo models, go further by taking off the front bumper, opening the hose clips to remove the oil hoses, and then removing the bolts that hold the transaxle oil cooler to the radiator and be sure to remove the bolts on either side of the cooler. Last but not lease, take out the oil cooler. For refitting, the procedure that should be followed is the reverse of the removal procedure including refitting of the clamps and hoses with new ones, topping up with the specified type of transaxle fluid as may be necessary, followed by a road test in order to ensure that the transaxle operates correctly, and there is no leakage.

Lift the vehicle and support with jackstands. Drain engine oil and remove oil filter. Drain coolant. Disconnect coolant lines from oil cooler, placing a drain pan below. Remove the union bolt and detach oil cooler from oil filter adapter. Install a new O-ring on the oil cooler. Reinstall in reverse order, aligning the adapter tab with the cooler notch. Tighten the union bolt. Reconnect coolant lines. Refill and bleed cooling system, refill oil, then start engine and check for leaks and gauge function.
