Q:
How to Replace the Oil Cooler on a Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
A:
On 3.6L V6 models, the oil cooler is located under the intake manifold and is an integral part of the oil filter housing. To replace the oil cooler, follow these steps:Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands.Drain the cooling system.Remove the engine oil filter.Squeeze the hose clamps and detach the hoses from the oil cooler, being prepared for coolant spillage.Unscrew the bolt from the center of the oil cooler and detach it from the engine.Clean the mating surfaces and use a new gasket when installing the cooler. Align the cut-out on the cooler with the tab on the oil pan. Tighten the bolt while holding the oil cooler to prevent it from turning. Finally, install a new oil filter, refill the cooling system, and check the oil level, adding as necessary.
